Dorothy Wilding (1893 – 1976)

Born in Longford, Dorothy Wilding was the first woman to be appointed as the Official Royal Photographer (for the 1937 coronation) and built an illustrious career as a society and royal photographer. Between 1952 and 1971, her portraits formed the basis of The Queen’s image on British postage stamps.

We are hosting a small display of ephemera and prints, from The Heroines Collection, associated with Gloucester’s most famous photographer:

  • 7th – 10th June
  • 10:00 – 15:00
  • Jolt Studios, St Aldate Street (King’s Square), Gloucester, GL1 1RP
