Felicia Cronin

We’re delighted to announce custodianship of the archive of Felicia Cronin

We came to know Felicia as an executrix of the estate of Elisabeth Buchmeyer-Lewis (whose archive was accessioned to our Collection in 2022), and only discovered recently that she is also a photographer. Described by Rodney Fitch (who was to become MD of the Conran Design Group) as a young “Design Conscious” photographer, Felicia’s work reflects the design mood that was popular in the 1960s and beyond – from the manicure bar in Harrods to found, random abstracts. Felicia first met Elisabeth when they shared a studio together while she was teaching in the Photography Department at Wimbledon School of Art, and they remained good friends until Elisabeth’s death in 2018.

We’re thrilled to have custodianship of an archive that so beautifully represents this important era in design and architecture, with its distinctive style that has continued to fascinate and influence.

Keep an eye on the website for further images and stories from Felicia’s archive. Some of the prints are already on display in Gloucester.
