The Collection
At the end of 2021, we started collecting objects, prints and ephemera for the Heroines Collection that forms the core of our museum. Each object relates to an artist’s practice in some way, and the stories attaching to the objects provide a unique insight into the work of the Heroines.
From a birdcage salvaged from a skip to antique silk pyjamas, every item is imbued with meaning. The array of riches, both humble and profound, recount the stories of some of today’s most significant artworks. The Collection is an unusual way to learn more about the work of today’s outstanding women artists.
In April 2022, we became the sole custodians of the archive of Elisabeth Buchmeyer Lewis. Objects from her archive will be exhibited from 1st October.
