Joy Gregory
British artist
Joy Gregory is an award-winning photographer who uses a variety of photographic techniques, including digital technology and Victorian cameraless methods, to explore social and political issues through a contemporary and historical lens.
Joy’s work was featured in several exhibitions and projects throughout 2020. She was commissioned by Autograph to take part in their Care | Contagion | Community – Self & Others project, which addresses themes of social justice and cultural identity in the context of and beyond the pandemic.
She has also been working on Invisible Life Force of Plants for Breath is Invisible, which takes inspiration from 17th– 19th century economic botany and uses cameraless photography to explore the importance of plants in our lives and histories.
In 2022 Joy is due to be featured in the Royal Photographic Society’s Squaring the Circles of Confusion Exhibition: Neo-Pictorialism in the 21st Century exhibition in Bristol, UK. The accompanying book for this exhibition is available now.
