Representation on the Line III: (Un)framing our Identities:

Following the success of Representation on the Line phases I & II: (Un)framing our Identities in Chelsea, the show is going on tour and will be starting in Blackpool. Phase III is to open on Saturday 31st August at HIVE, 80-82 Church Street, Blackpool until September 30th.

Since opening last year, HIVE has been made firmly known in Blackpool as the artisan coffee shop in town. It has raving 5 star reviews on Trip Advisor about the delicious, homemade food and cakes and friendly staff. As well as it’s fantastic food and atmosphere, HIVE has had new exhibitions on the walls every month, showcasing the work of local artists.

With September rolling in, HIVE is now proud to showcase the work of over 60 female photographers, covering the full three floors of HIVE for the first time. The work covers themes of female representation within music, connecting identity through nature, the transition from girlhood to adulthood, loss and so much more.

The launch night will be held at 6pm-8pm on August 31st, and will be officially opened by photographer, curator and founder of Northern Narratives, Tracy Marshall.

Other things to do in Blackpool, other than visiting Pleasure Beach, the Towers and more, with a similar theme to our own, include visiting the NDACA photographic exhibition, featuring Anger, Arts and Rights from the Disability Arts Movement at the Grundy Art Gallery on Queen Street.

With it’s rich history, there are plenty of historical museums or attractions to be visited, including the heritage trams, Brooks Collectibles and Museums and The Regent, an antiques and craft centre, listed within a grade two building making it one of Blackpool’s oldest landmarks.

Our opening weekend is also the same week as the Blackpool Illuminations, a spectacular 10km light show, using over one million bulbs with a Switch On concert to celebrate the start of the event.
