International Women’s Day 2025
Saturday 8th March
We’re celebrating International Women’s Day with a new museum display, collectively curated and produced by our amazing volunteers. The display will include:
- The final chapter of the Feminist Project for the Rural Arts, where the artwork incorporating the Gloucestershire SCOBY will be unveiled.
- Feminist art responses to SCOBY by local creatives.
- Dorothy Wilding – curated by Dorothy expert, Sarah Grant. How the identities of Dorothy’s sitters were framed in terms of their husbands and fathers.
- How feminist artists of the 1970s shattered the female stereotype.
- Latest acquisitions to the collection.
- How a medieval female saint resonates with current US politics.
- A performance piece referencing Judy Chicago.
- Curated book selection.
- Objects and activities around unpaid labour.
Visitors are invited to contribute to the feminist collage and curate their own mini exhibitions.
