International Women’s Day 2025

Saturday 8th March

We’re celebrating International Women’s Day with a new museum display, collectively curated and produced by our amazing volunteers. The display will include:

  • The final chapter of the Feminist Project for the Rural Arts, where the artwork incorporating the Gloucestershire SCOBY will be unveiled.
  • Feminist art responses to SCOBY by local creatives.
  • Dorothy Wilding – curated by Dorothy expert, Sarah Grant. How the identities of Dorothy’s sitters were framed in terms of their husbands and fathers.
  • How feminist artists of the 1970s shattered the female stereotype.
  • Latest acquisitions to the collection.
  • How a medieval female saint resonates with current US politics.
  • A performance piece referencing Judy Chicago.
  • Curated book selection.
  • Objects and activities around unpaid labour.

Visitors are invited to contribute to the feminist collage and curate their own mini exhibitions.
