Tabby Montgomery, Wasted

‘I wanted this photoshoot to reflect the chaos of growing up, exploring youth culture and the process of growing up. The childish makeup contrasting the action of smoking symbolises how growing into a new person with new societal expectations and trends to keep up with can feel extremely fast, and often confusing.’

Beatrice Mason-Bond, Stroud Market

‘Me and parents had popped to the market to buy bread like we do every Saturday, and I was standing on the high-street, waiting for an interesting character to walk by when who should appear but this person! This was inspired by Shirely Baker and used street photography to represent the diverse residents of Stroud and capture the parallel lines of buildings going into the distance. This kind of architecture was something that interested me when I was examining Shirley’s work.’

Rowan Allen, Cyclist

‘I tried to show the different types of surfaces such as bricks and tiles on the roof, wall and floor in this street and also show the way the street angles. Using black and white helped to sharpen different aspects of the photo. I thought the family and the cyclist added movement to the image and showed the different kinds of people living in Stroud.’

J Pyrite, untitled

‘My photo of a walk in the park is hugely reminiscent, to me, of the first thing I can remember – sunlight filtering through the leaves on a windy day, with my dad being there. My dad is also present in my photo on a metaphorical level: the film camera I took it with was a gift from him, and he had received it as a gift from his father.’
