A Feminist Co-Curation Project

For Heritage Open Day 2025

As part of Nailsworth Heritage Open Day 2025, we’re celebrating the textile industry that historically made Nailsworth what it is today and the women whose labour and creativity shaped it. On September 20th from 11:00, we’re hosting a unique, participatory installation co-curated with internationally renowned artist Lisl Ponger, whose work is currently on show as part of our Poisoned Futures? exhibition.
📍   Hundred Heroines Museum (directions here)
📅   20 September
🕒   From 11:00
🎟️   Free (booking recommended)

We invite you to bring along something that connects you to textiles (for example, a piece of fabric, clothing, thread, a thimble, pins, needles, a photo or memory) and become part of a collaborative artwork. Together, we’ll explore the intersections of craft, feminism and heritage, weaving your contributions with objects from the museum’s collection.

This co-curation project takes a commoning approach to curatorial practice, creating a space where personal stories and historic artefacts meet in dialogue. The installation will highlight the power of women’s craft as feminist art, both past and present.

Come and take part in this tribute to textiles and the women who worked with them.

All feminists welcome!
