Ellen Carey

Struck by Light: A Self-Portrait”  © Ellen Carey

Ellen – my Irish Catholic birth name – in Gaelic/Celtic means “light” or “bringer of light” a prescient gift from my parents. Photography –  light drawing – is serendipitously linked to me, through fate, destiny, choice — as much as my DNA says – Ellen –   My life’s journey into the wondrous world of light through the magical mystery of it, brought me to the worlds of: Photogram and Polaroid; colour-to-color; RGBYMC, from negative – to – positive, in: light and shadow, reflection, refraction. What form, what wonder, see what develops?

In a mirror, light sees me, light sees hope, a portrait of us together. For what is photography without light?
