Do try this at home!
We’re intrigued to find out more about the way SCOBYs can be used artistically. We’d love you to take part in the experiment, by taking a SCOBY home, nourishing it with memories and tea, then using it – or its water – in your art or craft, or even a living SCOBY-world in a tank. The possibilities are endless …
We’ll be displaying all the SCOBY art in an exhibition at a future date.
How to get involved
- Email us (hello@hundredheroines.org) to let us know when you want to collect your baby from the Gloucestershire SCOBY.
- Collect from us at Nailsworth Mills (or if you’re local, we can deliver).
- As it grows, transfer it to a larger vessel and add things to the tank (objects need to be suspended for the SCOBY to grow into them).
- Nourish it every two weeks with the SCOBY tea recipe, which you can adapt to your own tea preference.
- When it’s large enough for your artwork, harvest it and let it dry out.
