Help Shape the Future of HH

By 6th April 2022March 7th, 2025No Comments
As some of our existing board members retiring over the next twelve months, we are looking for new trustees, based locally, to help guide the charity through its next exciting phase of development.

Based in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, Hundred Heroines is the only UK charity dedicated to women in photography. We have created the world’s first museum of women in photography, holding prestigious exhibitions, which have been critically acclaimed by the national press.

The ‘Heroines’ challenge how we see the world, push artistic and social boundaries, and highlight human rights issues. Through innovative exhibitions and events, we showcase the invaluable contribution women make – and have made – to the visual arts and to society, while building a living archive to increase public appreciation of their pioneering work and transformational humanitarian impact.

No previous charity or sector experience is necessary as full training will be provided. In particular, we are looking for the following attributes and skills:

  • Enthusiasm for the charity’s work and commitment to its feminist aims
  • Commitment to regular hands-on involvement in the museum and gallery
  • Access to local networks and communities
  • Experience of safeguarding and working with young people
  • Fund-raising and advocacy capability
  • Marketing
  • Digital expertise

We offer all trustees:

  • Elective training in museum specific skills including exhibition design
  • A voice in collections and programming
  • The opportunity to work with international artists
  • Free access to other museums and galleries
  • Reimbursement of expenses

If you’re interested in bringing world-class art and exhibitions to the area, we’d love to hear from you.

Hundred Heroines is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion in the organisation. We encourage applications from a diverse range of candidates from all cultural or socio-economic backgrounds.
