Northern Narratives x Hundred Heroines
New Collaboration in Gloucester
Northern Narratives and Hundred Heroines are delighted to announce their new joint venture, an innovative ‘Organisation in Residence‘ programme based in the city of Gloucester, UK.
The residency, which will focus on women in documentary photography, will begin in August 2023. It will involve weekly collaboration between the two organisations, in person at the Hundred Heroines museum space in the Eastgate Centre, Gloucester, with a view to developing creative projects and community outreach initiatives.
While the outcome is not yet set in stone, Northern Narratives and Hundred Heroines hope an exhibition, conference, and publication could emerge from the residency in 2024.
During these challenging times for small charities and arts organisations, Hundred Heroines Founder and Chair Del Barrett hopes the residency will encourage new ways of thinking around organisational stability and longevity. She stated, “We’re really excited to reinforce the importance of Gloucester as a centre for photography and culture. Watch this space!”
Tracy Marshall-Grant, Director of Northern Narratives, commented, “We’re looking forward to spending time in this exciting and inspiring photography space, working with [the Hundred Heroines] collection and archives and learning from their communities of artists and creatives.”
