In the third Instagram take-over of 2021, Hundred Heroines are thrilled to announce from Monday 19th April Pixy Liao will be sharing her images.
Based in New York, photographer and Heroine Pixy Liao questions the gender norms within relationships and strives to subvert the narrative. Often accompanied by her partner and subject, Moro, Pixy creates images with layers of subtext surrounding feminism, expectations and the gaze.
One of her recent exhibitions New Wife, Old House (2020), saw the couple take on more conventional roles within the relationship, compared to her ongoing project Experimental Relationship (2007- Now) where Pixy places herself as the dominant force within the images.
Currently showing in New York’s Fotografiska gallery within the exhibition Your Gaze Belongs to Me (2021) – featuring images from Experimental Relationship. Pixy uses feminist discourse and humour to tell a story of modern love and power, while questioning society’s expectations of relationships.
Within the take-over Pixy will be sharing images from Experimental Relationship and For Your Eyes Only – head to our Instagram page to see her work.
