Where Art Meets Science
We’ve been examine the baby SCOBYs under a microscope and are fascinated by what we’ve found:
- The molecules of the growing SCOBY move at high speed.
- Even when the SCOBY has been de-hydrated ready for use in an artwork, the molecules are still alive, they just move more slowly.
- The baby SCOBYs that have had a slight variation in their diets or different items in their tanks have shown a marked change in the molecular structure.
Photography & SCOBY features at Summer School on the 9th August.
Celebrating Women Artists
- Email us (hello@hundredheroines.org) to let us know when you want to collect your baby from the Gloucestershire SCOBY.
- Collect from us at Nailsworth Mills (or if you’re local, we can deliver).
- As it grows, transfer it to a larger vessel and add things to the tank (objects need to be suspended for the SCOBY to grow into them).
- Nourish it every two weeks with the SCOBY tea recipe, which you can adapt to your own tea preference.
- When it’s large enough for your artwork, harvest it and let it dry out.
