Tom Lovelace

Tom Lovelace is an artist based in London. Working at the intersection of photography, sculpture and performance, Lovelace explores the semantics of the everyday, revealing and reimagining materials, processes and histories. Central themes to his research and visual inquiry encompass the history of photography, labour and minimalism. Lovelace studied Photography at the Arts University Bournemouth, receiving First Class Honours before studying Art History at Goldsmiths College, University of London. He is a visiting Tutor at the Royal College of Art, London and the Arts University, Bournemouth and a regular speaker at Universities, festivals and galleries. In 2017, Lovelace curated At Home She’s a Tourist for Peckham 24, Photo London.

International residencies include Yorkshire Sculpture Park, UK (2017), Lendi Projects, Switzerland (2015), European Capital of Culture, Aarhus, Denmark (2013) and the Anna Mahler International Foundation, Italy (2012). Lovelace has previously been nominated for Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize, the Foam Paul Huf Award, Prix Pictet Award and the Infinity Award (International Center of Photography, New York). His work has been featured and reviewed in The Financial Times, The Guardian, Time Out London, The Art Newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, Contemporary Art Society, Dazed and Confused, AnOther Magazine, Wallpaper Magazine, Philosophy of Photography, American Suburb X, Aesthetica Magazine, Art Licks, Of The Afternoon, Source Photographic Review, British Journal of Photography, a-n and The Rebel Magazine. His self-published books, Work Starts Here (2013) and This way up (2016) are held in the Tate Artist’s Book Collection.
