Saturday Afternoon Workshops
For young women and girls (16-18) interested in photography
Whether you’ve never picked up a camera before or you’re already experimenting with your own style, our 2026 programme, Girls Behind the Lens, gives you the chance to try out new techniques, get hands-on with exciting equipment and learn from inspiring women photographers. From playful composition challenges to exploring the museum’s incredible collection, every week brings something different – and you’ll leave with new skills you can be proud of.
But these workshops are about more than making pictures. They’re about discovering your creative power, meeting new people and building a space where young women lift each other up. You’ll have the chance to tell your own stories, collaborate on mini-projects and develop ideas that could grow into exhibitions, zines or portfolio pieces. Most importantly, you’ll be encouraged to trust your instincts and express yourself freely.
Each programme runs for 4 consecutive Saturdays.
- No pressure. No judgement. Just a friendly group, snacks, cameras and a place where your imagination leads the way.
- Come along, experiment and see what happens when you put yourself behind the lens. Your perspective matters – and we can’t wait to see the world through your eyes.
- Join us on Saturday mornings for Girls Behind the Lens. Bring your curiosity. We’ll bring the rest.
- 19-25 year-olds are welcome go to join the group as volunteers – help us run the programme and boost your CV!
