In her fourth solo exhibition, one of the leading lights of contemporary Middle Eastern photography, Gohar Dashti, is exhibiting two of her latest photographic series – Land and Uprooted. Within both of these series, Dashti has created images which capture the beautiful natural world, whilst eliminating the constant human presence of the world which defines the modern world.
Although, the human presence is absent visually, the human remains the protagonist. Dashti is able to to bring together the natural and human worlds, creating images which bring forth emotions and memories.
Beyond the Seas and Trees as a whole explores the themes of belonging and identity, and role our collective memories play for each of us.
